Quick Answer

Honolulu Water Damage is a licensed and insured restoration company serving all of Oahu, operated by Harrison Wilson with 12 years of water damage restoration experience on the island. The company provides water damage restoration, flood cleanup, mold remediation, fire and smoke damage restoration, storm damage response, and 24/7 emergency services to residential and commercial property owners throughout Honolulu, HI.

Why Honolulu Water Damage Was Founded

After 12 years working in water damage restoration across Oahu, Harrison Wilson had a clear picture of what property owners in Hawaii were getting and what they were not. National franchise companies sent techs who had never worked in a humid tropical climate and applied mainland drying protocols that simply did not account for Hawaii’s conditions. Insurance claims were documented poorly, leading to disputes and underpaid settlements. Property owners were left to manage the gap between what their carrier approved and what their home actually needed.

Honolulu Water Damage was founded to fill that gap. A locally owned company, operated by someone who grew up on Oahu and has spent his career restoring island properties, built around IICRC-certified processes and a commitment to documentation that protects the homeowner, not just the contractor.

The company serves all of Oahu, from the North Shore and Windward Side to the Waianae Coast and East Honolulu. The team is IICRC certified in Water Damage Restoration (WRT) and Applied Microbial Remediation (AMRT), and all work is carried out in compliance with Hawaii contractor licensing requirements.

Local Knowledge That Matters

Restoring a Honolulu home is not the same as restoring a home in Denver or Dallas. It requires understanding specific local factors.

Hawaii’s climate and drying science. The ambient humidity in Honolulu requires more powerful dehumidification equipment and longer drying times than mainland markets. Drying calculations that work in arid climates underestimate the moisture load in Hawaii. We use LGR dehumidifiers rated for high-humidity environments and run daily monitoring to confirm progress against Hawaii-specific benchmarks.

Local housing stock. Honolulu’s residential housing ranges from plantation-era wood-frame homes in Kaimuki and Nuuanu to mid-century ranch homes in Pearl City and Aiea to concrete-block construction common in Windward Oahu. Each construction type absorbs and releases moisture differently, and restoration protocols must account for the material type.

Local waterways and flood geography. Manoa Stream, Nuuanu Stream, Palolo Stream, Kapalama Canal, and the streams draining the Ko’olau Mountains have documented flood histories that affect which neighborhoods face the highest risk and what types of damage occur. We know these patterns.

Hawaii insurance market. We have direct experience with First Insurance Company of Hawaii, Dongbu, USAA Hawaii, State Farm Hawaii, and all major carriers operating in the state. We know the documentation requirements, the claim timelines, and the supplemental process specific to Hawaii’s insurance market.

Services: water damage restoration, flood cleanup, mold remediation, fire and smoke damage, storm damage, emergency response, and burst pipe water damage.

Questions About Honolulu Water Damage

Yes. Honolulu Water Damage is fully licensed as a contractor in the state of Hawaii and carries general liability insurance and workers compensation coverage. We can provide proof of insurance and licensing upon request before any work begins. You should request this documentation from any restoration contractor before they enter your property.

The IICRC, or Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, is the professional standards body for the restoration industry. IICRC certification means our technicians have completed structured training, passed examinations, and demonstrated competency in water damage restoration (WRT) and applied microbial remediation (AMRT). More importantly, it means the work is performed to a documented standard that your insurance adjuster recognizes and accepts for claim processing. Learn more at iicrc.org.

Harrison Wilson has 12 years of professional restoration experience working across Oahu before and since founding Honolulu Water Damage. That experience covers residential and commercial properties across all of Oahu’s communities, from high-rise condominiums in Kakaako and Waikiki to single-family plantation-style homes in Kaimuki and Manoa to rural properties on the North Shore and Waianae Coast.

Yes. We restore both residential properties, including single-family homes, condominiums, and multi-unit residential buildings, and commercial properties including retail spaces, office buildings, and light industrial facilities. Commercial jobs often involve more complex coordination with property managers, tenants, and multiple insurance carriers. Our documentation protocols are built to handle that complexity.
